Rules for Nominations

 

Eligible to submit nominations for the Nobel Prize in Literature are:

1) members of the Swedish Academy or of other academies or institutions with comparable roles worldwide.

2) professors of literature or linguistics at universities or colleges.

3) previous Nobel Prize laureates in literature.

4) chairs of writers’ organisations considered representative of their country’s literary production.

It is not permitted to make one’s nomination public, nor to nominate oneself. The list of nominations is subject to a fifty-year confidentiality rule and will not be published until such period has elapsed.
